It's your choice!  -- Sales Tax or Property Tax?
 
If approved, the 1 cent sales tax will result in a 3/4 cent increase effective October 1, 2012 as 1/4 cent is scheduled to retire at that time.  The current rate is 8.55% and the proposed rate would be 9.3%.  Passage of the sales tax will allow the City Commission to hold the current level of the City’s property taxes. If not approved an estimated 10 mill property tax rate increase just to amortize debt for the first phase of ADA improvements will be required.  A copy of the ADA settlement agreement with the Department of Justice is available by clicking here.  Details on the facility improvements start on page 76 of the settlement agreement.  Click on the Sales Tax Brochure link below for more information.  Click the pictures below for an enlarged view.

Tuck-pointing, repairing windows and doors of the Shelter House is another project to be funded from the Sales Tax Initiative.

Replacement of the train canopy and walkways is one of the projects included in the sales tax initiative. FORPAZ may also be partnering with the City on this project.

Passage of the sales tax will help the City maintain free services, such as brush and leaf pickup.

Total reconstruction of West Main from 10th to 18th Street is one of the projects included in the sales tax initiative.
