This department consist of a full-time Building Inspector. The Building Inspector is responsible for issuance of building permits, sign permits and roof permits. This department also enforces building codes and the Landlord Tenant Ordinance. The Building Inspector also performs various inspections; such as electrical, plumbing, rental and construction.
Requirements for a Building Permit Application: If any owner or acting agent intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, mechanical system, the installation of which is regulated by City code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Building Inspector and obtain the required permit.
Work Requiring Inspections: Footing and foundations, plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical, all rough-in installations, floodplain requirements, frame and masonry, fire resistance rated construction and final inspections.
