The City of Independence has sustained a lot of tree damage from the ice storm on Tuesday. The City is asking the citizens to please do the following with the tree limbs to assist the City crews with clean-up:
- Please place all tree limbs in the grass area along the street curb in front of your house. Please do not place brush in the street. City crews will begin canvassing the city by starting in Area 1 (see corresponding map) and working through the entire City to Area 12. Please do not call City offices for brush and tree limb pickup. City crews will cover the entire city over the next couple of weeks and will provide periodic updates on the City Facebook page (@IndependenceKS) indicating what area they are working in.
- For residents who live inside the city limits and are able to haul their own brush, the brush dump will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., today and tomorrow (October 28 and 29), Saturday, October 31, and Monday through Saturday, November 2-7. Only tree limbs and brush are allowed, and a City worker will be on site inspecting loads. The brush dump is located on County Road 4100, one-half mile south of CR 4000 (College Avenue).
